Line Stand-In

Your place in line, without you standing in it.

Send someone to hold your spot — DMV, passport office, courthouse, restaurant waitlists, sneaker drops, Broadway rush tickets, the Apple Store. You show up at the front when it's your turn.

Turnaround
Book at least two hours ahead for same-day. Release-day drops should be booked the night before.
How pricing works
Hourly, with a one-hour minimum, quoted up front and extendable in half-hour blocks that you approve as they happen. No surprise overage.
Where
Manhattan · Brooklyn · Queens · The Bronx · Staten Island

What's included

  • A stand-in who arrives at your chosen time and holds position
  • Photo updates on line position at agreed intervals
  • A heads-up call or text when you need to start heading over
  • Coverage for government offices, restaurants, box offices, and retail drops
  • Weather gear so they don't abandon the line when it rains
  • Extension by the half hour if the line moves slower than expected

What's not

  • Anywhere the venue's own rules forbid a substitute — we check first and tell you
  • Purchasing on your behalf unless you've booked that explicitly and funded it
  • Presenting your ID or signing anything as you
  • Overnight camping without booking the overnight option

If you need something on this list, send it through the box below — some of it we can arrange, it's just not part of the standard job.

How it works

  1. Book a stand-in by location and start time
  2. They check in and send live photo updates on line position
  3. You get a heads-up to arrive and swap in near the front

Who it's for

  • Anyone facing a four-hour government office wait on a workday
  • Foodies chasing no-reservation restaurants and brunch waitlists
  • Collectors and resellers on release-day drops

Questions people actually ask

Is this allowed?

It depends on the venue and we check before accepting. Some restaurants and box offices explicitly forbid it. If a venue's rules prohibit substitutes, we won't take the booking.

What if I don't get there in time?

The stand-in holds as long as you keep extending. If you can't make it at all, the position is lost and you pay for the time used.

Can they buy the thing for me?

Only if you book a purchase run and fund it in advance. Otherwise they hold the spot and you complete the transaction yourself.

Something specific?

Your situation not covered above?

If what you need is close to this but not quite it — a weird building, an odd hour, a job that spans two of these — describe it here. It goes straight to the founder, and unusual requests are how new services get added.
